Our main purpose focuses on ending childhood food insecurity in the USA. 

 

The three biggest downsides to food insecurity - hunger, poor nutrition, and emotional trauma, have intensified in America despite the fact that ample supply in the form of otherwise good food gets removed from the food supply chain and is placed in landfills.

 

Since 2014, our efforts focused on feeding hungry children have led to several distinctions including:

• Food donations have been limited to non-perishable, mostly unhealthy foods for children

• Most food banks/pantries, about 80%, only have dry warehouse storage capability

• Anything that needed to be chilled, refrigerated, or frozen (such as fruits, vegetables, meats) wasn’t an option

• Much of donated perishable food gets destroyed

 

If better quality, nutritious food was going to reach hungry children we knew we were going to have to come up with a way to produce and install solar powered refrigerated units to food banks/pantries.

 

We created the concept and began development and installation of stand-alone solar powered cold storage units at the site of these food service distribution facilities.  This led to-

• Kids getting better nutritious foods

• Parents and families benefitting from the reduction of food insecurity

• Increased amounts of storage-able food at food banks

• And, a reduction in the amount of perishable food that ends up as harmful methane waste in landfills

Our standalone solar powered refrigerated food units can store perishable food and provide high levels of nutritious better-quality food to those most in need; food that would otherwise have gone to waste.
